Telling tales that inspire,
challenge and inform
Key Features
-
We perform in costume
Our costumes were made after considerable research in collaboration with Nottingham University and fashioned from styles and materials available in the 1850s.
-
A local 'Not for Profit Group'
We normally work in Nottinghamshire and surrounding counties. We will come equipped and ready to go; all we ask for is a place to change in and some light refreshments. Net proceeds go to local charities.
-
An Independent Group
This gives us the ability to be flexible. Our standard fee is £60 but this can vary; it depends on your location. In special circumstances, it can be reduced.
-
Schools, WIs and U3As
We have extensive experience, over several years, of working with groups such as these. U3A’s in Soar Valley, Wollaton, Arnold, Southwell, Rainworth, and Stapleford. WI’s in Epperstone, Newark Fountain, Stapleford and Huncote.
-
Challenging
We often challenge commonly held views of the Victorian workhouse. We cannot guarantee that all our stories end happily; some can induce hilarity, others can be cruel, scandalous – but we hope all are entertaining and informative.
-
You should book in advance
Our schedules can quickly fill up, with bookings already into 2026, so if you are interested, contact our Administrator now to book a session.
We operate over 10 months each year, from March until December, leaving January and February, to hibernate and recuperate.
